The ADL Job Performance Technology Center (ADL JPTC) supports life-long learning and job performance through data readiness. Learning content in support of war fighter readiness is a logistical component that must be accurately managed, produced, and delivered in concert with other information products. All technical information in support of a common product must be accessible to change, and grow as new product designs are applied through life cycle. The Academic Advanced Distributed Learning Co-Laboratory (AADL) serves as the focal point for academia in promoting high-quality reusable content for distributed learning. This ADL Co-Lab is the ADL academic link to test, evaluate, and demonstrate ADL-compliant tools and next-generation technologies to enhance teaching and learning. It also serves as an academic demonstration site for ADL tools and content, including those developed by the federal government, academia, and industry. Based on established standards and learning outcomes, primary research currently focuses on repositories, games for learning, and mobile learning.
The Workforce Advanced Distributed Learning Co-Laboratory (Workforce ADL Co-Lab), located at the FedEx Institute of Technology on the campus of the University of Memphis in Memphis, Tennessee, is the catalyst of ADL implementation in industry, serving as a facilitator of the development and integration of ADL technologies in industry to enhance the learning and training of the workforce of the future. The Workforce ADL Co-Lab is the mechanism that promotes adoption of ADL technologies industry through education, technical training, and accessibility to solutions that will contribute to the creation of the advanced digital knowledge environment in workforce settings.
The Center for Online Workforce Development is the nation's first academic research body focused on the use of technology-mediated instruction to train and retrain America's workers. The U.S. Department of Defense created the Center through a grant from the ADL Initiative. The Center, founded in September of 2009, is located in Fairfax, Virginia on the campus of George Mason University (GMU); its administrative home at GMU is within the Office of the Vice President for Research.
