April 17, 2009 The ADL Co-Lab Hub welcomed more than 50 friends and colleagues from industry, federal agencies, and the DoD at the ADL Open House and Launch Celebration in Alexandria, Va. on April 14th.
ADL Director, Dr. Robert Wisher, welcomed the attendees and provided an overview of the ADL Initiative. Dr. Wisher then introduced members of the ADL team who provided a guided tour of our new Web site and its new features. Web site topics included SCORM, the ADL Registry, Training Evaluation, Immersive Technologies, the Learning Technology Lab, and Learning Opportunities.
ADL Technical Team lead, Angelo Panar described the new enhancements in SCORM 2004 4th Edition that are making SCORM – already the de facto world-wide standard for creating learning content – even better. Later, ADL Team member Eric Sakmar described how the ADL Registry version 1.7 significantly improves your search experience and takes the guesswork out of what you’ll get when requesting an object.
In addition to the Web site, SCORM, and ADL Registry updates, Job Performance Technology Center (JPTC) Director, Wayne Gafford, provided an update on JPTC activities with S1000D and the SCORM - the S1000D bridge project - and ADL Interagency Coordinator, George Koch, described how ADL can help federal agencies with their SCORM initiatives.
Attendees at the ADL Open House and Launch Celebration included representatives from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Fire Arms, and Explosives (ATF), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Foreign Service Institute, Department of Agriculture (USDA), Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Navy Center for Surface Combat Systems (CSCS), Defense Ammunition Center (DAC), Defense Acquisition University (DAU), Joint Knowledge Development and Distribution Capability (JKKDC), the U.S. Marine Corps (USMC), National Guard Bureau, and Office of Personnel Management (OPM), as well as numerous corporate representatives.
