We are very excited about the upcoming ADL SCORM Technical Working Group (TWG) meeting. There have been some recent developments that have clarified open issues and will have an affect on both the immediate and long-term road map of SCORM 2004 and ADL.
The goal of this meeting will be to discuss plans for SCORM 2004 and beyond. We anticipate an ISO/IEC effort to produce an international standard “Core SCORM” and possibly a joint ADL/AICC/SIFA/MedBiquitous/Korea release of SCORM in the 2009 time frame. It is critical that the TWG play a major role in these activities.
Topics to be discussed:
- New IMS/GLC and ADL Agreement
- Harmonization effort between SCORM’s adaptation of sequencing and IMS/GLC Simple Sequencing Specification Version 1.0
- User Interface Interoperability Issues in SCORM 2004
- Other ADL SCORM TWG Member’s Open Issues *
- AICC and SCORM
- LETSI Status Update
We will also begin discussions of the requirements for future releases of SCORM. TWG members who have ideas about features/directions for SCORM are welcome to submit 1-page white papers before the TWG meeting. These will be posted and summarized at the meeting. We hope to create small working groups to go off and explore alternatives on issues like: content aggregation, sequencing, enterprise software architecture, and needed features like Sharable State Persistence (SSP), Question & Test Interoperability (QTI), modeling and simulation, content distribution, collaborative learning, etc.
As always, remote participation in the TWG meeting will be arranged for those who cannot make it to Alexandria.

(*) IMPORTANT NOTE: TWG Members, please get any of your open issues or concerns with SCORM 2004 3rd Edition or 1-page proposals about future SCORM requirements to Schawn Thropp (thropps@ctc.com) by September 28, 2007. These will be included for distribution and discussion at the upcoming TWG Meeting. |
