Latin American and Caribbean Regions Advanced Distributed Learning Partnership Laboratory Established

March 26, 2007

(Español) Washington, DC, March 26, 2007 - The Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL) Co-Laboratory (Co-Lab) Hub, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), and the Latin American Institute of Educational Communication (ILCE) signed an Intent to Cooperate to support the global development of ADL.  The ILCE represents a learning community in 13 nations across Latin America and the Caribbean.

This announcement at the Latin American ADL Partnership Lab is the culmination of a close relationship developed over the past years between the U.S., and Latin American and Caribbean regions on ADL topics.  The Latin American and Caribbean effort joins the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and Korea as the fifth ADL Partnership Lab.  ILCE will collaborate on best practices and standardization of tools and course content for technology-based learning.

ILCE desired to establish an ADL Partnership Laboratory to focus on broadcasting, promoting and implanting the Sharable Object Reference Model (SCORM) in the management of e-learning technologies.  ILCE will work through the ADL Co-Lab Hub in Alexandria, Virginia, to share research, lessons learned and technical evaluations on learning outcomes, and to collaborate on projects of mutual interest.
