Date: Wednesday, 25 July 2018
Time: 1330-1430 (EST)
Speaker: Andy Johnson, SETA Contractor
Have you been asked to implement xAPI in your community? Is it your job to collect data about the wide range of experiences a person has (online and offline)? Or maybe you're a seasoned professional interested in advancing the state of tracked data across communities. If you're involved in the quantifiable, sharable, and trackable - the ADL Initiative has a webinar for people like you! Our Specifications and Standards Manager, Andy Johnson (CTR), is ready to get down into the details with you in the webinar, "xAPI How To: Working with the Vocabulary Server and Creating Profiles." He'll go over the value of coining vocabulary in a centralized place, some of the ADL Initiative's plans for this in the future, how different vocabulary terms relate to profiles, and go through the process of how a simple update can be populated across the web and how the identifiers work with that. This 40-minute presentation will be followed by a Q&A session with Andy Johnson.
Subject: Presentation/demonstration on how to use the ADL Vocabulary Server when implementing xAPI, including how to use a profile as well as guidelines on how to create one's own profile. We will discuss: the value of coining vocabulary in a centralized place: the ADL Initiative's plans for the future; how different vocabulary terms relate to profiles; the process of how a simple update can be populated across the web; and how the identifiers work. We'll also address the duplication of terms and how to eliminate them.
Audience: Those who have been tasked technically to implement xAPI, but don't have any other direction other than that. Those who would like to see what types of information it can track. Those interested in advancing the state of tracked data across communities.
